CALL FOR YOUNG EMERGING ARTISTS - New Frontiers

Application deadline Friday, January 27th, 2012

New Frontiers Exhibition at the SARC
February 4 – 25, 2012
Scugog Arts Resource Gallery
Port Perry

In February 2012, the Scugog Council for the Arts (SCA) opens New Frontiers, an exhibition featuring the work of area young emerging artists in all media, in the Scugog Arts Resource Gallery (SARC) in Port Perry. New Frontiers is open to young Durham region artists between the ages of 14 and 21, who have not completed a post secondary program in arts or exhibited a body of work independently from a school setting.

The New Frontiers exhibition provides an opportunity for young artists to explore their artistic potential in a public setting. “I think that the show has great potential because we are giving young artists the opportunity to show their work outside of the educational setting” states SARC Gallery volunteer curator, Jennifer Blair. “We will be showcasing new, exciting work created by artists just learning about the incredible things they can do with art. Young artists have a love for experimentation and their work can be so interesting because of their fresh passion for the arts. The work of young artists reminds all of us of the importance of art in our lives.”

New Frontiers will run February 4th to 25th and the submission deadline is Friday, January 27th. Applicants may submit up to 3 works. For more information contact the Scugog Arts Resource Centre, at 181 Perry St.,Unit G-1, info@scugogarts.ca, 905 982-2121.
